The Mercantile Table Tennis Open Championships will be conducted by the Mercantile Table Tennis Association after a laps of five years on Thursday and Friday (27 & 28) at the S. Thomas’ College Indoor Stadium tables commencing 5pm on both days.
This year’s championships have attracted more than 75 players from the Mercantile sector firms. According to the draw four former Sri Lanka National Champions, namely, Nirmala Jayasinghe, K.S.T. Chalitha, Buddhika Walagampala and Srimali Wimalaratne will be competing for the men’s and women’s singles titles. Also stiff competition will come from former Sri Lanka Nationals’ runner up Chameera Ginige, Junior National plays such as G.P.H. Sajith, Malik Dinusha and Chaushalya de Silva.
In the men’s veterans category former champions, Rajiva Wijetunge and Gamini Moraes will have to face stiff opposition from Wasantha Perera, Priyantha Perera and N.M. Thilakananda.
