At a Selection Committee meeting, the national selectors have confirmed the following squad for the ICC T20 World Cup.
Sri Lanka it seems is opting for the tried and tested formula. This team has remained unchanged for some time barring injury replacements and has been able to hold on to No 1 T20 ranking since 2012.
However Sri Lanka being the No 1 T20 side, they have seen some close games despite big ranking differences between teams especially the recent going against Bangladesh is a worrying factor considering the fact that the T20 World Cup will take place under same conditions and same grounds.
Sri Lanka will have to play out of their skins if they want to convert the No 1 ranking into a World Cup win
This team has been ratified by the Sports Minister. However, Rangana Hearth’s inclusion will be subject to fitness. If found unfit he will be replaced by Chathuranga De Silva who is a slow left-arm orthodox spinner who hails from Moors SC.
