Red Bull Campus Cricket Qualifiers (Sri Lanka)

With the presence of Sri Lanka cricketer Lahiru Thirimanne and the tournament director Brendon Kuruppu the draw for the Red Bull Campus Cricket qualifiers was held yesterday at the P.Sara Stadium in Colombo.

Ten  educational institutes are set to compete in this year’s Red Bull Campus Cricket  qualifiers.  American National College (ANC), Business Management School (BMS), General Sir John Kotelawala Defense University (KDU), Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT), Informatics Institute of technology (IIT) Royal Institute of Colombo (RIC), South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM), International College of Business and Technology (ICBT), Asia Pacific Institute of Technology (APIIT) and National Institute of Business Management (NIBM) respectively. 

Six teams were drawn to the quarter finals through Bye from hitting the wicket without bowling a no ball. As a result players who missed the wickets have to play a group stage knock out in order to play in the quarter finals.

The finals will be worked off at the SSC grounds in Colombo  on the 27th February 2014 at 2.00 pm and the winning  team will be representing Sri Lanka and will compete with other top cricket playing nation’s Universities & Higher Educational Institutes from India, Australia, South Africa etc

The Sri Lankan higher educational institutes and universities will be offered the dream opportunity of playing the Red Bull Campus Cricket (RBCC) T20 finals at the KIA Oval in London.
