The Thomian Triathlon 2014 will be held on the 25th of January commencing 6.00am and going on till 6.00pm.
STC prides itself on having one of the most picturesque school campuses in the country and also boasts of some of the most up to date facilities for the pursuit of excellence in academics, sports and other extra-curricular activities. The 2014 Triathlon will be a mega event that will bring together the school boys, teachers, parents, old boys and well-wishers to support the fund raising of the Senior Quadrangle Classroom Block Project and the Staff Trust Fund.
The event is scheduled to commence from Bishops College pool and Ladies College pool and the participants will run up to Havelock Park and take on cycling from Havelock Park to College Big Club Grounds. The Big Club Grounds will take the shape of a mini carnival where there will be Musical Shows, amusement activities, Trade and Food Stalls. The Senior Quadrangle Project will be constructed in three phases and the first phase has already commenced and the total project is estimated at Rs. 250 Million.
As times change and the requirement for specialized education becomes a necessity, the school too must upgrade in order to facilitate the requirements of the future generation of students. The “Senior Quadrangle project” was envisioned with this future requirement in mind.

11.30am Lower School Boys will join the Triathlon from Arpico Super Centre, Dehiwala
12.00 – 6.00pmMini Carnival @ College
Extract from Warden Prof Indra De Silva’s message
Unlike most other activities organized by the OBA and PTA, a triathlon is special because it signifies several things beyond raising funds for College. First, it is perhaps the only event that brings parents, students, old boys and staff together in aid of the school’s worthy projects, in this case, the building fund targeting the ‘senior quadrangle project’ plus a benefits program for teachers. Secondly, it raises awareness of personal health and a healthy lifestyle in terms of exercise and physical fitness. Thirdly, it is an event that brings parents and children as participants around an event organized by College where they compete side by side against many others, perhaps serving to build joint school spirit in the Thomian households, an invaluable asset for the school moving forward.
As the Warden, I want to focus particularly on this third factor because any activity that builds school spirit and increase the bonds between our students and parents and the school is extremely beneficial on many levels. Thus, it is up to us, the organizers, to ensure maximum participation so that we can gain as much as possible from this event.
Method of participation
Old boys or a well- wishers who intend participating should obtain a sponsorship card from the OBA Secretariat or their class groups which is priced at Rs. 3000/= which entitles a high quality Triathlon T’shirt and a cap.

The Thomian Parent Teachers Association will be responsible for organizing the mini-carnival and the musical show will feature, Journey, Glory, Audacity (girl band, winners of TNL on-stage 2013) and young Thomian talent. There will also be a DJ present.
