Sandun Weerakkody’s blistering century and Tharindu Rathnayake’s brilliant bowling performance helped Tamil Union Cricket & Athletic Club register their third win in the SLC Major Clubs 3-Day Tournament 2024/25.
Weerakkody smashed 128 runs off 91 balls with 13 fours and 8 sixes while Rathnayake picked up a match bag of 7 wickets becoming the chief architects of Tamil Union’s victory over Nugegoda Sports and Welfare Club.
Moors Sports Club also recorded an innings win over Kandy Customs Sports Club courtesy of Janishka Perera’s century and Ramesh Mendis’ all-round brilliance.
Perera stroked 101 runs off 141 balls with 11 fours while Mendis notched up a half-century while picking up match bag of 7 wickets with the ball.
Colombo Cricket Club put on a brilliant batting display against Burgher Recreation Club in the drawn Group B encounter worked off today at CCC Grounds.
Anjala Bandara struck a brilliant century in the first innings while Lasith Croospulle came up with a blistering century in the second innings for CCC. Bandara hit 190 runs off 243 balls with 21 fours while Croospulle notched up 163 runs off 102 balls with 14 fours and 10 sixes.
