Power house Adithya Ratnayake has been appointed as the Captain of the Wariyapola Sri Sumangala College, Kandy Rugby outfit. After a season to forget, the boys from Asgiriya are determined to display a better performance this year under the new Captain. Though they had a winless journey in 2024, they showed a lot of heart in the losing courses, especially against the St. Anthony’s, Science and Dharmaraja sides. Incumbent Captain Adithya is a center three-quarter who is armed with both power and pace. He is a well experienced campaigner who gave ample support to the team as the Vice Captain last year.
Second Row player Ifky Hameed has been appointed as a Co-Vice Captain. He is a towering player who is agile and capable of stealing the ball, especially in line outs.
Powerful player Yasiru Thiwanka will be the other Co-Vice Captain of the side. As the No. 08, he is well known for his brutal hits on opponents, which will boost morale of the team.
With this versatile combination, the college is hoping that the boys will tackle every challenge that comes on their way to the league title.
Summa brigade will be trained under the guidance of veteran Coach Kingswoodian Malith Hettiarachchi, and Vidyarthiyan Anushka Kolonne will be his deputy.
