The Zahira College Colombo (ZCC) Old Boys Association (OBA) in the UAE marked a significant milestone with its 20th Anniversary Fellowship Dinner, held at the Knight Castle Hotel in Dubai.

This grand event brought together over 200 Zahirians and their families from across the UAE, celebrating two decades of camaraderie and shared heritage.

A Night of Unity and Celebration

The evening was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, including the Consulate General of Sri Lanka for Dubai and the Northern Emirates, H. E. Alexi Gunasekara, and former Sri Lankan T20I captain Dasun Shanaka. Their presence underscored the event’s importance and added prestige to the occasion.

The highlight of the night was the introduction of the new ZCC OBA Executive Committee for 2025/26. Incoming President Imran Marso shared his vision for the association, emphasising three key pillars: strengthening the bond among Zahirians, giving back to both Zahira College and Sri Lanka, and creating a legacy for Zahira in the UAE. His address resonated deeply with attendees, inspiring a renewed commitment to the association’s mission.

A Colorful Extravaganza

The event was a vibrant showcase of Sri Lankan culture, featuring traditional dance performances that captivated the audience. Adding to the festive atmosphere was the official launch of the ZCC OBA T-shirt, a collaborative effort with the event’s main sponsor, Siraj Finance PJSC.

Siraj Finance PJSC, one of Abu Dhabi’s leading financial institutions, played a pivotal role in empowering the event. The company’s CEO, Mr. Rusan Fyroze, a proud Zahirian himself, reiterated the organization’s unwavering support for the OBA’s initiatives.

A Shared Vision for the Future

The Fellowship Dinner served as a platform to reflect on the association’s achievements over the past two decades and chart a course for the future. Incoming President Imran Marso highlighted the importance of leveraging the collective strength of the Zahirian community in the UAE to make a meaningful impact.

“Our goal is to foster a stronger bond among Zahirians, promote sports excellence, and give back to our alma mater and our home country,” said Marso. His vision was met with enthusiasm and applause, setting an optimistic tone for the years ahead.

Bridging Generations

The event wasn’t just about looking back; it was also about paving the way forward. With the presence of young and senior Zahirians alike, the evening celebrated the unbroken bond that unites generations of alumni.

Acknowledging the Supporters

The ZCC OBA expressed heartfelt gratitude to Siraj Finance PJSC for their continued support and sponsorship, which played a crucial role in the success of the event. Their partnership reflects the strong ties between the Zahirian community and the corporate world, exemplified by leaders like Rusan Fyroze.
