The U19 Division I Schools Cricket Tournament featured four games today (21th December) at different venues across the island.
Mahanama College secured a commanding victory over St. Servatius College, winning by an innings and 75 runs. Chamika Heenatigala, Sithum Vihanga, and Dulnith Sigera delivered outstanding performances with the bat, scoring two centuries in their first innings. In response, St. Servatius College managed only 190 runs in their first innings. Viran Chamuditha contributed a crucial 95 runs, while Praveen Madusanka remained unbeaten with 20 runs. On the bowling side, Anuka Wijewardhane was exceptional, taking 7 wickets across both innings, and Sithum Vihanga supported the effort with 3 wickets in St. Servatius’ first innings.
The match between St. Thomas College, Matara, and Moratu Maha Vidyalaya ended in a draw, with St. Thomas College claiming the first-innings victory, highlighted by Pesandu Sanjan’s brilliant century. Sandun Sudarshana Suwaris and Vihanga Nethsara each took 3 wickets for St. Thomas College. On the Moratu Maha Vidyalaya side, Sanjana Senavirathna contributed 45 runs, hitting 5 fours and a six. Manuga Guruge delivered an exceptional bowling performance, taking 5 wickets for just 24 runs, while Pesandu Sanjan added to the effort with 3 wickets for 33 runs.

In another match, skipper Pulisha Thilakarathne played a brillient innings against Maliyadeva College, scoring 53 runs with 3 fours, while Dimantha Mahavithana added 45 runs. Thaveesha Balasooriya claimed 4 wickets for 60 runs, and Dimath Rivisahan picked up 3 wickets for 69 runs against Trinity College.
In response, Maliyadeva College ended day one at 53/6. Pahasara Bandara contributed 30 runs in Maliyadeva’s first innings, while Thisal Yapa took 4 wickets for Trinity College
