The U19 Division I Schools Cricket Tournament featured four games today (21th December) at different venues across the island.
In the match between Gurukula College and St. Peter’s College, the Peterites achieved a dominant victory by an innings and 14 runs. Enosh Peterson made notable contributions with the bat, remaining unbeaten on 63 runs. Dilana Damsara was exceptional with the ball, taking eight wickets in both innings, while Thareen Sanketh added to the bowling success with 4 wickets in Gurukula’s second innings.
Despite the loss, Gurukula’s second innings saw fighting knocks from Denura Dimansith, who scored 53 runs, and Hiruna Nimsara, who added 32 runs.
In another match, St. Sebastian’s Central College, Katuneriya secured a remarkable victory by an innings and 26 runs against Tissa Central College, Kalutara. The bowling duo of Maheesha Sithum and Damsith Subashana shone in Tissa’s second innings, with Sithum taking 5 wickets for just 20 runs and Subashana also claiming 5 wickets for only 25 runs.

Mahanama College put up an imposing total on the scoreboard, powered by two centuries. Chamika Heenatigala impressed with a superb knock of 106 runs, while Sithum Vihanga added another century, scoring 102 runs against St. Servatius College. For St. Servatius, Chalana Indusha stood out with the ball, taking 2 wickets for 31 runs.
The match between St. Thomas College, Matara, and Moratu Maha Vidyalaya was limited to just one over for the day before being abandoned due to rain in Matara
