Sri Lanka U19s finished the group stages unbeaten after a thrilling victory over Bangladesh in their final group game at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Electing to bat first, Sri Lanka found themselves in trouble as the Bangladeshi bowlers maintained relentless accuracy with their line and length. By the 23rd over, Sri Lanka had lost four wickets for just 76 runs. However, Sri Lanka’s number four batter Vimath Dinsara anchored the inning until the end with a magnificent century.

With valuable cameos from the lower middle order, the Islanders managed to post a total of 228, runs which is a par score at the u19s level and gave the bowlers something to bowl at.
In the run chase, Bangladesh was cruising at 176 for the loss of just four wickets. However, the dismissal of opener Kalam Siddiki, who was batting on 95, since then the Bangladeshi innings went downhill as Sri Lankan skipper Vihas Thewmika turned the game on its head with the ball, claiming three crucial wickets. His efforts led Sri Lanka to a nail-biting 7-run victory, sealing a thrilling finish
