The first three-day encounter between Sri Lanka U17 and Bangladesh U17 ended in a draw today (3rd December) at Galle International Cricket Stadium.
Having been asked to bat first, Sri Lanka U17 posted 285 runs for 8 wickets before declaring the innings. Jason Fernando (98), Joshua Sebastian (53) and Gimhana Rasanjana (51) struck half-centuries to uplift hosts’ first innings.

In reply, the visitors were restricted for 252 runs for their first innings. Rasith Nimsara was the pick of the bowlers for Sri Lanka U17 as he grabbed 4 wickets for 55 runs.
The hosts began their second innings 33 runs ahead and posted 317 runs for 7 wickets before making the declaration. The skipper Kithma Vidanapathirana smashed a brilliant century to Sri Lanka U17 in a dominant position.

He scored 164 runs off 132 balls with 11 fours and 9 sixes at a strike rate of 124.24. No. 3 batter Senuja Wekunagoda also contributed with a fine half-century (80).
Bangladesh U17 were set a target of 351 runs to win, but they managed to post only 51 runs for 4 wickets before the close of play on third and final day.
