Sri Lankan players secured two silver medals and two bronze medals at the 6th Carrom World Cup, becoming the runners-up of the overall tournament this time.
The tournament was held in San Francisco, USA, with participating countries including host USA, India, Canada, France, Italy, Korea, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Poland, Syria, Singapore, Switzerland, England, UAE, and Sri Lanka.

Last time’s champions, Sri Lanka, had to settle for the runners-up position this time, with their title going to India, who were last tournament’s runners-up.
As usual, the Indian women’s team emerged champions, while the Sri Lankan women’s team had to be content with the runner-up position, as they were in the previous tournament as well.

In the team events, both the Sri Lankan men’s and women’s teams advanced to the finals after defeating the Maldives teams in the semifinals.
However, in the doubles events of the tournament—both men’s and women’s—Sri Lankan players managed to win bronze medals.
In the men’s doubles event, Sri Lankan team captain Saheed Hilmy, paired with Anas Ahmed, defeated the host American team in straight sets (2-0) to claim the bronze medal.

The match scores stood at 25-4 and 25-0.
In the women’s doubles event, Tharushee Himahansika and Hirusha Malshani represented Sri Lanka, showcasing their skills by defeating the American team to win the bronze medal. Despite a strong start with a 23-12 victory in the first set, the Sri Lankan pair lost the second set 25-4. However, they bounced back in the decisive set, narrowly winning 11-10, thus clinching the match 2-1.
