Nilfer Ibrahim has decided to move to Vidyartha College as he moved on from St. Joseph’s College post the 2024 Schools’ Rugby League Season. A one-year contract is set to be signed tomorrow, 4th of November.
He succeeds Sumedha Malawana, as Vidyartha has opted to sign free agent Nilfer in their aim to build on their success from 2024.

The experienced campaigner will return to Kandy to take on the role, while continuing his Head Coach position with Police Sports Club.
Radeesha Seneverathne and Anuruddha Wilwara are rumored to be joining the coaching setup alongside Nilfer at the helm.

The former Kingswood College, Kandy SC, and Navy SC player joined St. Joseph’s College in 2017, leading them to heights the Josephian team had never reached before, including winning the Presidents Trophy Knockout Championship for the first time in their history.
He also led the Josephians to a second-place finish in both the League and Knockout tournaments in 2022, bringing to a close a successful stint at the helm of Joes Rugby.

Nilfer had a one-year spell at Kingswood but returned to St. Joseph’s in 2022, where he continued coaching until the end of the 2024 Schools’ Rugby season.
Known for his exceptional man-management skills, he elevated Joes Rugby to new heights in what can be seen as a successful 8-year reign at the Darley Road school.
