Endurance karting pushes drivers to their limits, testing their stamina, focus, strategy, and teamwork. This event will elevate those elements to new heights as teams of drivers take turns navigating go-karts around the FIA-CIK certified SpeedBay Karting Track, aiming to complete the most laps within the 12-hour timeframe.

This championship demands proactive thinking, smoother pit stops, discipline, and careful maintaining of energy levels as drivers rotate behind the wheel. Success in the race will require not only speed but also well-timed strategic maneuvers and thorough thought driver line-up for each team.

Earlier this year, SpeedBay hosted a 6-hour endurance championship, which was marked by intense and neck-to -neck racing. Thus, spectators are eager to see what Saturday’s extended 12-hour event will entail.

A number of teams will compete to claim the podium, featuring a talented field of drivers and team managers. The exact number of participating teams is yet to be confirmed, but the championship promises fierce competition and high levels of skill.

Each team is allowed to field a maximum of 6 drivers, requiring precise teamwork and strategy. Team managers and pit crews will also play a vital role, with fast pit stops and strategic planning being essential for success.

“Hosting a 12-hour endurance race to Sri Lanka marks a significant milestone for the local motorsport scene. After the success and intense competition of our 6-hour event earlier this year, we wanted to take it to the next level. This is a challenge unlike any other in Sri Lanka, and we’re excited to see how our local talent rises to meet it. The enthusiasm from both racers and fans has been overwhelming, and we believe this will set a new standard for endurance karting in the region,” says Eshan Pieris, Chairman – David Pieris Racing & Leisure.

The SpeedBay 12-Hour Endurance Karting Championship 2024 is organized and promoted by SpeedBay at Bandaragama together with the Motor Racing Association and Ceylon Motor Sports Club. SpeedBay is owned and maintained by David Pieris Racing & Leisure (Private) Limited, the motorsports arm of the David Pieris Group.
