The Home of Rugby Ceylonese Rugby Football Club (CR and FC) is set to host their first Club Rugby League encounter under floodlights at the newly renovated Longdon Place ground later next month.

The project was successfully completed in rapid time as the Ministry of Sports, Emirates, Sumal Fernanado and the Lifer Members of CR Funded this much needed upgrade for the venue.

CR & FC President – Tikiri Ellepola mentioned that “Access International finished this in just 4-months with the support of experts from ACL Cables and LECO”

CR hopes to play all their home matches undelights as they hope to continue with free entrance to entice supporters to watch and enjoy the atmosphere.

He finally added that “The whole project was under the watchful eye of the CR & FC floodlight sub-committee headed by Sriyan Cooray and Aashiq Lafeer along with support subsequently from General Manager, Dasun Welhena and the CR and FC ground staff” and said that the ground will be made available for Schools Rugby, and other sports as well in the near future.

“The field will be accessible for schools to hold their rugby and other sports matches under the lights.”
