The Club Rugby season for 2024/25 is set to begin Mid-November with the participation of 9-clubs as new bees Sri Lions are set to make their debut.
The Ministry of Sports has provided their approval for Sri Lions to make their entrance into the tournament as they enter on virtue of winning the ‘B’ Division league tournament in 2023/24.
President of Sri Lanka Rugby Group Capt. Nalin De Silva (Retd.) confirmed the participation of Sri Lions in the tournament this time around as they will be participating for the Knockout Championship as well.
This will no doubt provide a new lease of life to the Club Rugby League which does not really attract much of a following due to the tournament being competitive between a few top teams only.
This year’s tournament will see the regular 8 teams alongside Sri Lions as CR & FC aim to retain their League title which while Police Sports Club will be eager to make waves in the League as they did in the Knockouts, winning it in 2024.
