Sri Lanka were knocked out from ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 as they suffered a massive defeat against India in their 3rd game of the tournament played today (9th October) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Having won the toss, India opted to bat first and posted a formidable total on the board courtesy of fine half-centuries from Harmanpreet Kaur (52*) and Smriti Mandhana (50).

Ama Kanchana and Chamari Athapaththu picked up a wicket each for Sri Lanka.
In reply, Sri Lanka had a disastrous start to their innings as they were slipped to 6/3 in first 2.2 overs including the dismissal of dangerous batter Athapaththu.
Sri Lanka couldn’t recover from there and eventually were bowled out for just 90 runs. The middle order batters Kavisha Dilhari and Anushka Sanjeewani showed a bit of spark during their stay at the crease, chipping in with 20s.
Arundhati Reddy and Asha Sobhana starred with the ball for India picking up 3 wickets each.

Sri Lanka will meet New Zealand in their last Group Stage game on the 12th October at Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
