Former Isipathana College Five-eighth, Shahid Zumri has been signed by Kandy SC in what looks to be the coupe of the preseason, given his form and magic he put on display in the recently concluded Dialog Schools’ Rugby Season.
Sri Lanka 7’s representative and Player of the Tournament from the U18 and U19 7’s tournaments in 2023, Shahid Zumri, has signed a deal with Kandy SC, along with teammate Kenula Mihisara.
Shahid Zumri scored 90 points for the Green Machine as the dynamic three-quarterback showcased his flair, helping Isipathana win the President’s Trophy Knockout Championship in his final act for the Park School.
His highly successful 1st XV tenure came to an end in 2024 when he was called up to represent Sri Lanka in the 7’s format, touring Nepal and demonstrating his abilities on the international stage alongside fellow Kandy teammates Tarinda Ratwatte and 2024/25 skipper Srinath Sooriyabandara.
Kandy SC will undoubtedly look to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming Club Rugby season, which is set to kick off next month, as they aim to reclaim the glory lost during the 2023/24 season.
