The Kandy All Island Open Badminton Championships 2024, one of the premier events in Sri Lanka’s badminton calendar, will take place from October 12 to 19 at the Provincial Council Sports Complex in Digana, Rajawella, Kandy. Organized by the Central Province Badminton Association (CPBA) in affiliation with Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB), the tournament promises an exciting showcase of both emerging talent and seasoned players across various age groups and categories.
This year’s event is expected to draw a large number of participants from all corners of the island, including top-ranked players and rising stars, all competing for supremacy on the courts.
The tournament will feature a wide range of categories to accommodate players of different skill levels and age groups. These include:
Open Events: Men’s and Women’s Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles.
Junior Events: Boys’ and Girls’ Singles and Doubles in U11, U13, U15, U17, and U19 age categories.
Junior Novices: Boys’ and Girls’ Singles and Doubles for U11, U13, and U15 age groups.
Senior Events: Age divisions for players over 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, and 70, with singles, doubles, and mixed doubles categories.
Additionally, there will be a Combined Age 110+ category for Men’s and Women’s Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles.
A Plate Event for first-match losers in the Men’s and Women’s Singles categories will also be held.
The draw for the event will take place at 11:00 AM on October 9 in Colombo, using BWF (Badminton World Federation) tournament software to ensure a fair and transparent process. Fans and participants can follow the draw live on the Sri Lanka Badminton Facebook page and official website.
