Team Jaffna emerged victorious in their encounter against Team Galle while the encounter between Team Kandy and Team Dambulla ended without a result in the National Super League 50 Overs Tournament 2024.
Team Jaffna registered a thrilling win over Team Galle in a rain-affected encounter played at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.
Having opted to bat first, Team Galle posted a commanding total – 295 on the board courtesy of Sadeera Samarawickrama’s brilliant century.
He smashed 109 runs off 95 balls with 12 fours and 2 sixes while Sanoj Darshika also contributed with vital 67 runs.
In reply, Team Jaffna managed to post 262/7 in 45 overs before rain interrupted the play. As per the DLS calculations, Team Jaffna were 4 runs ahead of the revised target, thus were declared as winners of this contest.
The second encounter of the day played between Team Kandy and Team Dambulla, but it was ended without a result due to rain.
After been asked to bat first, Team Kandy were bowled out for 185 runs with wrist-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga impressed with the ball for Team Dambulla scalping 3 wickets for 53 runs.
In reply, Team Dambulla were 49/2 before the rain washed out the rest of the play.
