Sri Lanka ‘A’ registered a convincing win over South Africa ‘A’ in the first unofficial Test of the two-match series played today (11th September) at Kimberley.

Sri Lanka ‘A’ resumed their second innings at 34/1 in the pursuit of target of 174 on the fourth and final day.

Sri Lanka’s No. 3 Nuwanidu Fernando threw his wicket in the second over of the day without troubling the scorers.

The skipper Pasindu Sooriyabandara then joined Fernando at the crease and the duo added vital 46 runs for the third wicket. Fernando and Janith Liyanage stitched together a 66-run stand for the fourth wicket sealing the victory for the visitors.

Fernando who scored a century in the first innings, notched up a match-winning half-century in the second innings being the chief architect of the run-chase.
