Bangladesh Women’s ‘A’ clinched the unofficial ODI series against Sri Lanka Women’s ‘A’, winning the second and final game by 8 wickets after the first match ended with no result. The match was played today at Thurstan College Grounds in Colombo.

The start was delayed due to a wet outfield, reducing the game to 20 overs per side. Sri Lanka Women’s ‘A’ captain Sathya Sandeepani opted to bat first after winning the toss.

The hosts posted 113 for the loss of 5 wickets in their 20 overs. Skipper Sandeepani was the top scorer, making 36 off 39 balls with two fours and a six.

Sri Lanka were initially struggling at 27/3 in 5.3 overs, but Sandeepani steadied the innings with a 46-run partnership alongside Piumi Wathsala, who added 22 runs.

Malsha Shehani provided the late flourish with a quickfire 25 off 14 balls, including two sixes. For Bangladesh Women’s ‘A’, Fahima Khatun was the standout bowler, taking 2/10 in her 3 overs, while Rabeya Khan also claimed two wickets.

In their chase, Bangladesh lost Shamima Sultan to a run-out in the first over after a brilliant fielding effort by Tharuka Shehani.

However, Dilara Akter and Murshida Khatun turned the tide with a 74-run stand for the second wicket in just 10 overs.

Akter fell just 3 runs short of a half-century, scoring 47 off 34 balls, which included three fours and two sixes. Khatun contributed 30 before being bowled by Nimesha Madushani.

An unbeaten 35-run partnership between Nigar Sultana and Ritu Moni guided Bangladesh Women’s ‘A’ to victory with 2 overs to spare.
