Dilroy Fernando has been appointed by Asia Rugby as their Match Official Manager.

This announcement was made on the 4th of August and In his new role, Dilroy will manage the logistics of match official operations, maintain detailed databases of officials, coaches, and performance reviewers, and ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines. He will handle the nominations and appointments process, support performance evaluations, and act as a key liaison with team coaches and management regarding refereeing and law matters. Additionally, he will contribute significantly to the development of male and female match officials and coaches by organizing online courses and discussions to promote continuous improvement, ensuring adherence to Asia Rugby’s principles and values.

With over 20 years of experience in match officiating, coaching, and performance reviewing, Dilroy brings a wealth of knowledge and a proven track record to this key role.

Dilroy’s rugby journey is distinguished by his impressive career as a national player for Sri Lanka in the mid-1980s, followed by extensive service as a referee, coach, and match commissioner at both domestic and international levels. He has played a vital role in Asia Rugby competitions, serving as a referee, coach of match officials, and performance reviewer. His international experience includes conducting World Rugby accredited courses in over 20 countries, highlighting his global dedication to the sport.
