England U19 managed to take upper hand on Day 2 of the second Youth Test of the two-match series against Sri Lanka U19 at the College Grounds in Cheltenham.

After been asked to bat first, the visitors were bundled out for just 153 runs despite No. 4 batter Gayana Weerasinghe contributing with a fighting half-century.

Weerasinghe stroked 77 runs off 111 balls with 8 fours and a six. For England, Naavya Sharma was the standout bowler as he grabbed 5 wickets for 44 runs.

The hosts replied strongly with the bat putting on 401 runs for 5 wickets at the close of play on Day 2. The skipper Hamza Shaikh stood out with a brilliant century while Jaydn Denly, Rocky Flintoff and Keshana Fonseka contributed with fine half-centuries.

The left-arm spinner Manuja Chanthuka was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors as he snared 2 wickets for 59 runs.
