The Colombo Strikers registered an emphatic 9-wicket win over the three-time champion Jaffna Kings in the third game of the Colombo leg.
Thisara Perera, the Colombo skipper opted to field first after winning the crucial toss. Anticipating heavy dew later in the game and considering the past behavior of the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.
The Jaffna Kings put into bat didn’t have the best of the starts to their inning, losing tournament’s highest scorer Pathum Nissanka and in-form Rilee Rossouw within three overs put them in a whole lot of trouble.
Colombo’s Shadab Khan ensured their dominance with the ball by striking four times in his allotted four overs, conceding only 10 runs. With the help of Shadab Khan’s four wickets and Binura Fernando’s two wickets, the Strikers could restrict the Mighty Jaffna Kings to only 109 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in their 20 overs.

In reply, Colombo Strikers opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz took apart the Jaffna King’s bowling, hitting to all the parts of the ground. After Angelo Perera was dismissed in the third over of the innings, Emirati Muhammad Waseem joined Gurbaz in the middle. Continued the onslaught making the Strikers victorious in just 9.5 overs.
Gurbaz blasted an unbeaten 57 off 33 deliveries, which included four maximums and four boundaries. On the other hand, Muhammad Waseem wasn’t just playing second fiddle to Gurbaz; he hammered an 18-ball 35 with three maximums and two boundaries.

With today’s victory, the Colombo Strikers remain in the third spot in the points table with yet to confirm their place in the playoffs.
