Sri Lanka’s difficult task of qualifying for the Super Eight stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 has been further complicated as their encounter against Nepal washed out due to heavy rain in Florida.
The game was scheduled to begin 5.00 AM (SL Time) but the incessant rains in Florida prompted the umpires to call off the contest without a toss.
Both Sri Lanka and Nepal got a point each with this washout, but it will hurt Sri Lanka as their Super Eight qualification chances hangs by a thread.

Sri Lanka will need to win their final game against Netherlands, but their destiny is not in their hands as they would require Bangladesh to lose against Nepal and the game between Netherlands and Bangladesh to end in a washout.
Sri Lanka will play their last game in the Group Stage against Netherlands on the 17th June at Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in St. Lucia.
