Team Galle crowned champions of National Super League 4-Day Tournament 2023/24 as they beat Team Kandy by 7 wickets in the final worked off today (3rd May) at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

Team Galle began their run-chase today, needing 176 runs to win with 10 wickets in hand. Shehan Fernando and Oshada Fernando opened the batting but their partnership was reduced for just 4 runs as the former was sent back to the hut by Nimsara Atharagalla in the very first over of the innings.

Fernando and Lakshan Edirisinghe then resurrected the innings, adding 93 runs for the second wicket. Edirisinghe made vital 56 runs off 57 balls with 8 fours and a six.

Fernando continued his good form with the bat, scoring another fine half-century as Team Galle crossed over the line quite convincingly losing only 3 wickets. Fernando remained unbeaten on 77 runs off 84 balls with 11 fours.

Ramesh Mendis of Team Galle who stroked a match-defining century while picking up 4 wickets with the ball won the player of the match award.
