Thurstan College, Colombo, registered a convincing win over Isipathana College, Colombo, to clinch the 44th Annual Limited Overs Encounter between the sides played today (17th March) at P. Sara Oval Grounds, Colombo.
Isipathana College skipper Sithuka Gunawardana won the toss and invited the opposition to take the first lease of the wicket.
Thurstan College put on a competitive score on the board on the back of fine half-centuries from Dinal Induwara, Shanikya Deshapriya and skipper Vihas Thewmika.
Chanul Dinoth and skipper Gunawardana were the star performers with the ball for Isipathana College as they picked up 3 wickets each.
In reply, Isipathana College were knocked over for just 152 runs, handing a 99-run win for Thurstan College. The opening batter, Ruchith Rodrigo (47) and middle-order batter, Maleesha Sandaruwan (39), fought knocks, but they were not enough to carry them to the winning line.
Vishwa Dhananjaya was the pick of the bowlers for Thurstan College as he snared 4 wickets for 35 runs, while Thanuga Palihawadana also impressed with a 3-wicket haul.
