The 145th Battle of the Blues between Royal College, Colombo and S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia continued for Day 2 today (8th March) at SSC Grounds, Colombo.
Royal College began their first innings today with the wicket-keeper batter Isula Geeganage and Rehan Peiris opening the batting for them. However, both openers didn’t have a long stay at the crease as they were dismissed within first 3 overs.
The skipper Sineth Jayawardane and Royal No. 4 batter Ovina Ambanpola then rescued the innings, adding 125-run partnership for the 3rd wicket. The former played a captain’s knock to save Royal College but unfortunately missed out on a well-deserved century as he fell for 92 runs.
Dinura Senaratne and Nethwin Dharmarathne added another crucial 69-run partnership for the 7th wicket to keep Royal College in the contest on Day 2.
Ashen Perera was the pick of the bowlers for S. Thomas’ College as he picked up 4 wickets for 51 runs. Darien Marlon also grabbed 2 wickets for 35 runs.
