Sri Lankan youngsters ready to make a splash at the BIMSTEC Youth Water Sports

BIMSTEC Youth Water Sports 2024

The BIMSTEC, also known as the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation, is organizing the inaugural BIMSTEC Youth Water Sports in New Delhi, India from the 06th of February 09th of February 2024, as an initiative to foster regional cooperation spirit in the Bay of Bengal region.

The Sri Lankan Aquatic team of 40 Swimmers, 09 Divers and 26 Water Polo Players took the wing last night to compete in Delhi in 3 Aquatic disciplines of Swimming, Diving, and Water Polo all under the age of 20 years.

All 75 of these athletes are school girls and boys from Ananda College – Colombo, Asian International School – Colombo, Bishop’s College – Colombo, Colombo International School,  D. S. Senanayake College – Colombo, Holy Family Convent – Bambalapitiya, Ladies’ College – Colombo, Lyceum International School – Gampaha, Lyceum International School – Nugegoda, Lyceum International School – Wattala, Royal College – Colombo, S. Thomas’ College – Mount Lavinia, Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya – Colombo, St. Bridget’s Convent – Colombo, St. Joseph’s College – Colombo, St. Peter’s College – Colombo, Visakha Vidyalaya – Colombo, Trinity College – Kandy, Wesley College – Colombo, Wycherley International School, and Zahira College – Colombo.

The 40-member Swimming Squad consists of 20 boys and 20 girls.
