S. Thomas’ College, Bandarawela emerged champions of the Under 17 Division 3 inter schools cricket tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association and sponsored by Sri Lanka Cricket on Tuesday (31st October).
S. Thomas’ College Bandarawela beat Sri Sumangala College Hikkaduwa by 60 runs in the final played at De Mazenod College Kandana on yesterday.
More than 350 teams participated in the tournament. S. Thomas’ College Bandarawela won the toss and elected to bat first. S. Thomas’ College Bandarawela posted 171 runs in 37.5 overs. The skipper Pravishka Nadeen scored 61 runs in 70 balls with 7 boundaries and 2 sixes. Shimalka Kanchana scored 46 runs. Pravishka Nadeen and Shimalka Kanchana added 50-run stand for the 7th. Tharun Damith claimed 3 wickets for 21 runs.
Sri Sumangala College Hikkaduwa were bowled out for 111 runs in 38.1 overs. Kalhara Dissanayake claimed 4 wickets for 21 runs and Niksha Perera claimed 3 wickets for 30 runs.
