Seven matches of the U19 Division 1 Inter-Schools Limited Overs Tournament 2023/24 were played today (27th October) at several venues across the island.

Ushen Silva’s brilliant half-century helped St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa register a convincing win over Wesley College, Colombo at Wesley College Grounds.

Batting first, the visitors posted 235/5 in the allotted 50 overs, with Silva top scoring with 98 runs off 153 balls with 12 fours. In reply, the hosts managed to post only 181/9 on the board, handing a 54-run win to St. Sebastian’s College.

Darien Marlon Diego and Sadev Soysa starred in S. Thomas’ College’s thrilling win over St. Anthony’s College. Diego starred with the ball, picking up a 5-wicket haul to restrict the Anthonians to just 144 runs. On their turn with the bat, the Thomians too struggled but Soysa held his nerves to play a match-winning knock (69) to guide his side to the victory.

The bowlers from both sides dominated the encounter between D. S. Senanayake College and Maliyadeva College, which was worked off today at D. S. Senanayake College Grounds.

Thaveesha Balasooriya was the top performer with the ball for the visitors as he picked up 5 wickets for 23 runs to restrict the hosts for 138. P. Chenuka Randula Peiris of D. S. Senanayake College displayed an even better bowling performance to dismiss the visitors for 114 runs. Peiris grabbed 6 wickets for 32 runs in 8.3 overs.
