The final round of the 8th Professionals’ Cricket League (PCL), organized and conducted by the Professional’s Cricket Association is set to be held this weekend at BRC Grounds, Colombo.
This year, the PCL is played in the T20 format with the participation of teams representing Sri Lanka Lawyers’ Cricket, Sri Lanka Doctors’ Cricket, Sri Lanka Institute of Architects, Institute of Engineers Sri Lanka, Aviators, Institute of Town Planners Sri Lanka and the two new members, Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing cricket team and Sri Lanka Government Surveyors Cricket.

The Lawyers emerged champions of the inaugural edition of the PCL in 2015. The Doctors and Engineers (current champions) each won the League thrice as in 2016, 2018, 2019 and 2017, 2021, 2022, respectively.
This year, the defending champions won all three games in the league stage from Group A while the Marketers registered a couple of wins. In Group B, the Lawyers are also unbeaten so far, winning three games and the Doctors won two games too. Accordingly, the Marketers will take on the Lawyers in the 1st Semi Final and the Engineers are set to battle with the Doctors in the 2nd Semi Final. The organizers also arranged a 3rd place play-off match and the Final will take place on Sunday, 24th September.

The Lawyers’ Akila Jayasundara is on top of the batting chart, accumulating 155 runs in three games while Mayavatharan Vinoth (the Architects) and Ershan Ariyarathnam (the Lawyers) are sitting next to him, having scored 151 and 119, respectively. On the other hand, Suresh Edirisooriya (the Architects), Pujitha Uduwana (the Marketers) and Nishshanka De Silva (the Surveyors) are the highest wicket takers, scalping 9 wickets apiece.

- 1st Semi Final – Marketers vs Lawyers – 23rd September, 9.45am onwards
- 2nd Semi Final – Engineers vs Doctors – 23rd September, 1.30pm onwards
- Third Place Play-Off – 24th September, 9.45am onwards
- Final – 24th September, 1.30pm onwards
