Mahinda College, Galle beat Maliyadeva College, Kurunegala to clinch the Vazians Super Sixers Challenge Trophy 2023, which was organized by the Old Cricketers Association of St. Joseph’s Vaz College at Sir Albert F. Peiris Grounds in Wennappuwa.
Maliyadeva College Captain, Themiya Bandara, chose to bowl first after winning the toss in the final. Pramesh Madubhashana and Senuka Dangamuwa opened the batting for Mahinda College. Madubhashana batted well, retiring out after scoring 22 off 13 balls.

Their skipper, Tharusha Dilshan, was run out for 17 off 8 balls as Mahinda College posted 67 runs, losing two wickets in their 5 overs. Themiya Bandara took 1/13 with the ball.
In response, Maliyadeva College only managed to score 49 runs, losing all 5 wickets in 4.4 overs. Madubhashana, who batted brilliantly, also bowled exceptionally well, picking up 2/9. As a result, Mahinda College emerged as the champions of the first-ever Vazians Super Sixers Challenge Trophy.
