Royal College, Colombo declared as the champions after registering the first innings win over Isipathana College, Colombo in the final of the Under 15 Division I Inter Schools Cricket Tournament 2023 conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association and sponsored by Sri Lanka Cricket Which played today (16th) at Wesley College Grounds in Colombo.
After opting to bat first, Isipathana College managed to post a total of 120/9 in their first innings. Janidu Induwara and Navindu Hettiarachchi, the top-order batters, were their leading scorers with 25 runs each.

On the opposing side, Oshan Sulakshana stood out as the standout performer in the Royals’ bowling unit, claiming figures of 3/13 after delivering 12 overs. Additionally, Sehadu Sooriyarachchi also secured impressive figures of 3/24.
In response, opening batsman Hirun Matheesha’s remarkable knock of 95 runs stole the show. His innings, consisting of 116 balls, featured 14 fours and 1 six, propelling Royal College to a total of 142/2 when the match concluded in a draw. With the first-innings advantage, Royal College became the champions of the U15 Division I Schools Cricket Tournament in 2023.

Earlier in the tournament, Royal College, Colombo, and Isipathana College, Colombo, progressed to the second round as the victors of their respective groups in the first round. Royal College, Colombo, triumphed over Mahanama College, Colombo, while Isipathana College, Colombo, defeated St. Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya, to secure their places in the final.
