A couple of matches of the ongoing Major Clubs T20 Tournament were played today (5th June) at P. Sara Oval Stadium in Colombo, where Kurunegala YCC and Ace Capital CC emerged victorious.

Baduraliya CC vs Kurunegala YCC
Kurunegala YCC registered their first win of the tournament after three straight losses as they beat Baduraliya CC by a comprehensive margin of 7 wickets.
After having won the toss, Kurunegala YCC put the oppositions to bat first. Earlier on, the match was reduced to 11 overs per side due to bad weather. Badureliya CC posted only 87 after losing 7 wickets in their 11 overs. Yesith Rupasinghe and Rohan Sanjaya scored 28 and 26*, respectively. On the other hand, Naveen Fernando picked a couple of wickets.
In the end, Kurunegala YCC chased down the target in 9.2 overs to claim their first win. Tharinda Wijesinghe was their top scorer as he scored 28 off 19, while Naveen Fernando took their side home with an unbeaten 25 off 17 balls.

Ace Capital CC vs Sinhalese SC
SSC suffered their second loss as Ace Capital CC continued their unbeaten winning streak to register their third win by just 13 runs.
Ace Capital CC posted 164/8 in their 20 overs after SSC inviting them to bat first. Sakuna Liyanage batted superbly to smash 67* off just 39 balls which included 3 fours and 5 sixes. Kalana Perera was the pick of the bowlers for SSC with a 3-wicket haul, while Kavindu Nadeeshan and Nisala Tharaka scalped two apiece.
In reply, SSC got to a perfect start with Skipper Avishka Fernando scoring a 33-ball 41, while Krishan Sanjula smashed quick fire 26 off just 13 balls. No.3 batter Shevon Daniel also contributed well as he stroked 40 off 31 balls. However, apart from that, no one was able to score runs as they bowled out for 151 with another 5 balls to spare. Opponent Skipper Roshan Jayathissa, who was brilliant with his bowling, picked up 3/24, while Pawantha Weerasinghe bagged two wickets as well.
The top ranked team from each four groups will advance to the Semi-final round, with Group A’s Nondescripts Cricket Club already having qualified for the Semi-finals.
