The Tier ‘A’ 2-day encounter between S. Thomas’ College and Prince of Wales College commenced today at De Soysa International Cricket Stadium in Moratuwa.

Having won the toss, the Thomians opted to bat first and posted 177/7 before the rain brought early stumps on day one. Thisen Eheliyagoda starred with the bat, scoring a vital half-century for S. Thomas’ College, while Achala Perera shone with the ball, taking 4 wickets for 51 runs for Prince of Wales College.

The traditional encounter between Royal College and Ananda College played for the 79th L. D. H. Peiris Memorial Trophy, was also hampered by rain, with only 43 overs of play being possible on day 1.

After been put into bat first, Royal College managed to put 150/3 on the board before the rain stopped play for day 1. Ovina Ambanpola was the chief scorer for Royal College as he made an unbeaten half-century.
