The tournament director of Lanka Premier League (LPL) Samantha Dodanwela has revealed that the next edition of the LPL will be a six-team tournament.
According to Dodanwela, the 2023 edition of the tournament will see the debut of a team from either the Northern Province or North Central Province.
“Due to the success the LPL has witnessed in the last three editions, there is a huge demand for a sixth team to be added next season. Therefore, we will be looking to open the doors for young Sri Lankan cricketers from Northern, Northern Central provinces by adding a new franchise to LPL. There are also investors lined up to buy a new LPL franchise next season” Dodanwela said.
