Sri Lanka suffered a 64-run defeat at the hands of Bangladesh in the Semi-Final of 3rd T20 World Cup for the Blind played yesterday (15th December) at SSE Cricket Grounds in Bangalore.

Due to the prevailing weather conditions in Bangalore, the match was reduced to a 17-over contest. After being put into bat first, Bangladesh posted a solid 188/3 in their allotted 17 overs.

The opening batters Salman and Mohammed Ashiqur Rahman set the foundation for Bangladesh adding 154 runs off 81 balls for the first wicket. Rahman top scored with a knock of 70 runs off 46 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes while Salman contributed with 61 runs off 39 balls with 9 fours.

Chasing a stiff target of 189 to win, Sri Lanka needed a significant contribution from their opening pair Suranga Sampath and Ruwan Wasantha, two of Sri Lanka’s top run-getters of the tournament, but it wasn’t to be as both were dismissed in the 20s.

Thereon, the pressure mounted on Sri Lanka’s middle order but they failed to fulfill the expectations as they were restricted to 124 runs, handing a 64-run win to Bangladesh. India won the other Semi-Final played today, defeating South Africa to set up a meeting against Bangladesh in the final of the tournament.
