The Champion outfit, Kandy Sports Club announced their partnership with Mastercard, a global technology company in the payments and commerce industry which will see them join the hill country club as the title sponsor of the team alongside Cargills.
Kandy Sports club is regarded as the most successful club rugby team in the country having won 22 league titles along with 20 Clifford cup knock out competitions. Kandy Sports club enjoys the largest fan following with massive crowd turnouts every time they play at the Nittawela Rugby Stadium.

2022/23 Club Rugby season will commence in early December with Kandy Sports Club as the defending champions of the competition. Kandy will be led by Former Trinity College Captain Damith Dissanayake while Former Sri Lanka and Kandy skipper Fazil Marija will function as the head coach of the outfit.
