Pathum Nissanka and Pramod Madushan’s fitness is set to be assessed at training tomorrow (22nd) ahead of Sri Lanka’s 1st Super 12 Round game versus B2 in Hobart on Sunday.
Nissanka did not field against the Netherlands in Sri Lanka’s final Qualifier game, reportedly due to a groin strain. However, further scans seemed to suggest that the injury was not serious, much to the relief of the Sri Lankan camp. However, whether he will be fit to play the 1st Super 12 Round game, is yet to be seen. Nissanka, who played a match-winning knock against the UAE, is a vital part of Sri Lanka’s success, so the management may even opt to rest him as a precautionary measure, in preparation for the games to follows.

- Replacements confirmed for Chameera and Gunathilaka
If Nissanka does not play, Sri Lanka will face a big dilemma in who to partner Kusal Mendis at the top of the order, with none of the other batters being regular openers. This would also mean that Sri Lanka will have to utilize all the batters in the squad, with Danushka Gunathilake already ruled out of the competition.
Madushan on the other hand, missed the game against the Dutchmen, due to a hamstring niggle. With only two quicks in Binura Fernando and Lahiru Kumara available to Sri Lanka, the management will be keen to have Madushan fit and ready to go on Sunday.
Sri Lanka have had a nightmare tournament in terms of injuries, with 3 players, Dilshan Madushanka, Dushmantha Chameera and Danushka Gunathilake already ruled out.
