The swimming edition of Novices Aquatic Championships 2022 organized by Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union will take place from the 15th of September to the 17th of September 2022 at Sugathadasa Stadium Swimming Pool Complex.
The Championships will be open to novice level swimmers who haven’t achieved the SLASU novices’ qualification times and who haven’t previously placed in the top 3 in a national event organized by SLASU or SLSASA except for Sri Lanka Schools All Island Age Group Novices Aquatic Championships. It will be conducted under 6 age groups namely Under 11, 13, 15, 17, 20, and 20yrs and over age categories, and will be open to both schools and clubs.
1233 participants from over 100 different schools and clubs are set to take part this time in the competition and a swimmer can participate in a maximum of 3 events.
Due to covid 19 pandemic, SLASU was unable to host this Novices Swimming championship for 2 years after its last appearance in 2019. The last time overall women’s and men’s championships were won by Visakha Vidyalaya-Colombo, and Sri Lanka Navy respectively.
SLASU has decided to schedule girls events for age groups under 15 and below on the first day, events for both girls and boys age groups above under 15 on the 2nd day, and boys events for age groups under 15 and below on the final day considering the convenience of all island-wide schools. Therefore, the outstation schools will only have to attend 2 consecutive days rather than all 3 days of the meet.
