Nalanda College, Colombo and St. Anthony’s College, Kandy were declared joint champions of the SLSCA U15 Division 1 Cricket Tournament 2022.
Having won the toss, Nalanda College skipper Osanda Pamuditha invited the opposition to take first lease of the wicket at Thurstan College Grounds in Colombo.
St. Anthony’s College got off to a shaky start losing 3 top order wickets for just 52 runs. However, Antonian No. 3 batter Yohan Senanayake and No. 5 batter Sanuka Kalpana showed some resistance with the bat putting on 51 runs for the 4th wicket.
Senanayake made 41 runs off 79 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes while Kalpana contributed with 32 runs off 55 balls with 6 fours as St. Anthony’s College declared their innings at 117/4 in the 39th over.
In reply, Nalanda College could bat for only 5 overs as rain washed out the rest of the day’s play. The organizers decided to declare the finalists Nalanda College and St. Anthony’s College as U15 Division 1 Schools Cricket joint Champions.
