Former Sri Lanka and CR and FC rugby captain Pavithra Fernando who was an active member of the National Rugby Selection Committee has resigned from his post with immediate effect recently.
He had handed over his resignation letter to the Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage last week.
Pavithra Fernando was one of the best flankers ever produced by Sri Lanka during the new millennium making his national debut in 1999 and he played as a regular member for quite a few years before he hung up his boots in 2010, Pavithra took up the responsibilities of administration soon after he made the full stop to his playing career.
ThePapare.com queried Mr Fernando about his decision and he sighted ‘personal reasons’ for this sudden decision and he did not want to make an official statement regarding his resignation.
