Hong Kong beat UAE by 8 wickets in the final Asia Cup 2022 qualifier match to qualify for the main draw of Asia Cup 2022.

Hong Kong remained unbeaten during the Asia Cup qualifiers finishing at the top of the points table to secure a berth in the Asia Cup 2022. They will now join India and Pakistan in Group B confirming all the six participating teams in the tournament.

In the final qualifier game against UAE, Hong Kong won the toss and opted to bowl first. They managed to restrict the opposition to 147 runs in 19.3 overs. Chundangapoyil Rizwan (49) and Zawar Farid (43) were the chief scorers for UAE. Ehsan Khan picked up 4 wickets for 24 runs for Hong Kong.

Hong Kong batters managed to register a comprehensive 8-wicket win thanks to impressive knocks from Yasim Murtaza (58), Nizakat Khan (39) and Babar Hayat (38*). Hong Kong also qualified for the previous edition of the Asia Cup in 2018 which was held in UAE.

Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh will compete in Group A while India, Pakistan and Hong Kong will battle it out in the Group B in the upcoming Asia Cup. Two teams from each group will qualify for the Super 4 round, with all four teams then playing each other once in round-robin format. The two teams who will finish at the top after the conclusion of Super 4 stage will reach the final of the Asia Cup.

The tournament will be played from 27th August to 11th September at Dubai and Sharjah. The tournament will kick off with Sri Lanka taking on Afghanistan on the opening day.
