The 3-day warm-up game between Sri Lanka U19s and Young Lions Invitational XI commenced yesterday (16th August) at Brockington Ground, Loughborough.

Having won the toss, Sri Lanka U19 skipper Raveen de Silva opted to bat first.

Sadisha Rajapaksa and Asitha Wanninayake opened the innings for the visitors and provided a solid start, building a 53-run stand for the first wicket. Though Sri Lanka lost 2 quick wickets in Rajapaksa and No. 3 batter Shevon Daniel, the experienced left-hander Pathiraja rebuilt the innings with Wanninayake, adding a 77-run stand for the 3rd wicket.

There were several rain interruptions during the day, therefore the first day’s play was reduced to only 56 overs as Sri Lanka U19s posted 182/4 at stumps. Wanninayake was the standout performer with the bat for Sri Lanka as he made 81 unbeaten runs off 166 balls which included 11 fours.
