23-member Sri Lanka Squad for AFC Asian Cup qualifiers 2023

Sri Lanka Football has named the 23-man squad for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers – Third Round, which is to be held in Uzbekistan.

Sri Lanka will play three qualifiers against Uzbekistan, Thailand and Maldives from 8th-14th June at the Markaziy Stadium in Namangan. As per Sri Lanka Football, the squad was announced subject to the approval of the Minister of Youth and Sports.

Seven players from the last Four Nations squad are not included. They are Waseem Razeek, Kavindu Ishan (injured), Duckson Puslas (deceased), Mohamed Rifnaz, Marvin Hamilton, Ahamed Shazny and Daniel Magrath. Sri Lanka will be captained by Sujan Perera, but Waseem Razeek had made himself unavailable.

To replace them Shenal Sandesh, Tharmakulanathan Kajakopan, Chathuranga Madushan, Shabeer Razooniya, Sebastianpillai Jesuthasan, Mariyathas Nitharshan and Afeel Mohamed have been included. Shenal and Jesuthasan have been included to the Sri Lanka squad for the first time.
