The final of the National Super League 4-day tournament between Kandy and Jaffna commenced today (07th April) at Galle International Cricket Stadium.
Kandy skipper Kamindu Mendis won the all-important toss in the big game and had no hesitation to bat first on the Galle surface.
The opening pair Kamil Mishara and Kasun Vidura provided Kandy a perfect start adding 123 runs for the first wicket. Vidura (71) and Mishara (56) both scored half-tons for Kandy.
After their dismissals, two of the in-form batters of the tournament Kamindu Mendis and Oshada Fernando met at the crease and set an unbeaten 154-run partnership for the 3rd wicket.
Fernando was the top scorer for Kandy as he made unbeaten 91 runs while the skipper remained unbeaten at stumps with a knock of 57 runs.
