Isipathanian, former Kandy SC & National representative and current forwards coach of the champion Kandy Sports Club outfit, Buddhika Thalagampola has been named as the head coach of the Kingswood College 1st XV team.
Having pioneered introducing schools’ rugby to the island, Kingswood College played the first ever schools rugby encounter in 1906 against their hometown rivals Trinity College Kandy. Thalagampola will go into the history books as the first coach from a Colombo alumnus to steer the boys from the Randles hill.
Schools Rugby 2022 Calendar Unveiled
Old Kingswoodian Anuja Mallikarachchi will continue as the strength and conditioning coach of the side having joined the team in 2020. Mallikarachchi is also a lecturer at the University of Peradeniya on strength and conditioning.
Once a heavyweight in the schools rugby arena, Kingswood will rely on their two senior players in Imanka Ishara and M.E.D Dissanayake to provide leadership to the young Kingswood outfit in the 2022 season that will strive to bring back the glory of yester years.

Former Kingswood skipper of 2001-2002 and former Kandy SC, CR&FC and Upcountry Lions represent Malitha Hettirachchi will be in charge of grooming the next generation of rugby players from Kingswood College having taken up the responsibility of coaching the under 16 outfit.
