Sri Lanka’s up and coming fast bowler, Nuwan Thushara, has tested positive for COVID-19 and will not travel with the Sri Lankan squad leaving to Australia on the 3rd of February.
Along with Thushara, Dilshan Fonseka, the team trainer, has also tested positive for Covid-19.
Sri Lanka Cricket said that both tested positive during a routine PCR test and are undergoing all necessary protocols and will join the squad on the 10th of February.
Thushara, who is well-known for his action which resembles that of Lasith Malinga, has been progressing steadily in the domestic scene over the past couple of years, earning himself a call-up to the national squad.
He was picked for Sri Lanka’s last assignment against Zimbabwe based on his performances at LPL 2021 but did not make it to a playing XI.
Sri Lanka will play 5 T20Is in Australia from the 11th to 20th of February.
